SSIA / PSU Commissioning Support Package for PartnershipsThe aim of the Commissioning Support Package is to support partnerships to analyse their strengths and weaknesses so that they are in a position to design, develop and implement joint strategic plans.
![]() It is a pack of materials designed to support facilitators of a 'Strategic Commissioning for Partnerships Workshop', and includes a preparatory e-learning section to be used with the package, or as a standalone resource. It draws on the 'Commissioning for Better Outcomes for Children in Need' (BOCIN) programme as well as other partnership development work, and has been jointly designed by the SSIA and the Partnership Support Unit (PSU) with the support of the Institute of Public Care (IPC) at Oxford Brookes University. It has also been prepared to support the 'Fulfilled Lives Supportive Communities Commissioning Framework and Guidance', and can be used alongside the Procurement Route Planner (PRP) which has been designed for social services and social care by Value Wales. Although it has been designed initially with Children and Young People's Partnerships, it can also be used for members of other strategic partnerships, e.g. Health Social Care and Well-being Partnerships, Community Safety Partnerships and Local Service Boards. The package continues to be developed with Children and Young People's Partnerships, and discussions are underway on piloting the package with partnerships over the coming weeks. Therefore, please note that the package may change slightly. The most recent version will appear on the website, and will be clearly dated. Comments or discussions are welcomed on the package as it develops, in particular around its possible use across different services and how it might best be used to support implementation of the 'Fulfilled Lives Supportive Communities Commissioning Framework and Guidance' within the partnership environment.
